Our Plant Operations team is a highly engaged, hands-on group responsible for keeping the hospital running smoothly behind the scenes. From managing essential systems to supporting major facility improvements, the team is deeply involved in both day-to-day operations and long-term projects. How you'll contribute  

A Plant Operations Director who excels in this role: 

  • Direct and oversee all plant operations functions, including maintenance of facility systems, equipment, and infrastructure

  • Lead a small team of staff members (including maintenance technicians and biomed support), providing day-to-day supervision, scheduling, and performance management

  • Perform and support hands-on maintenance activities as needed, including troubleshooting and assisting with repairs (e.g., boilers, electrical, general systems)

  • Oversee and coordinate preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards

  • Serve as a key stakeholder in capital projects, including planning, coordination, vendor management, and execution of facility upgrades and new equipment installations (e.g., MRI, surgical equipment, renovations)

  • Collaborate with leadership and external partners to ensure timely completion of construction and renovation projects, including managing contractor relationships

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including coordination of inspections (state, fire, and safety) and readiness for surveys

  • Participate in environment of care and life safety processes, ensuring facility operations align with healthcare standards and requirements

  • Monitor facility systems and proactively identify maintenance needs, infrastructure improvements, and replacement planning (e.g., boilers, aging systems)

  • Manage departmental operations, including budget oversight, resource allocation, and cost control

  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers for specialized maintenance and service agreements

  • Support emergency response and facility-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations

  • Maintain accurate documentation for maintenance activities, inspections, compliance, and projects

  • Foster a team-oriented, collaborative environment across departments and within the leadership team

  • Ensure regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned 

 

 

What we're looking for 
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Additional requirements include: 

  • Prior plant operations experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience managing facility systems, maintenance operations, and capital projects

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience required

  • Strong working knowledge of:

  • Facility systems (HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing)

  • Preventative maintenance programs

  • Healthcare regulatory requirements (CMS, state regulations, life safety standards)

  • Ability to coordinate and support construction and capital improvement projects

  • Familiarity with inspection processes and regulatory compliance workflows

  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and external contractors
