Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Essential Functions- Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
- Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
- Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
Exposure: Regular occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
License: /Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
