Centerpoint Health is a member of the UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network. The affiliation allows patients to stay close to home while receiving care. As members of the network, the hospital receives a variety of benefits, which will allow us to provide better care to our patients. Specialized clinical nurses at Centerpoint Health provide a wide variety of services related to intravenous treatments. Drug classes are administered by our infusion and surgical services teams.
How you'll contribute
An Oncology RN who excels in this role:
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate health care team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity. Assigns priorities to the patient's problems with highest priority given to problems that are most urgent and critical.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Insures completion of requests for diagnostic work and support services.
Counts narcotics according to policy and procedure.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
OCN Certified Nursing preferred
Chemotherapy Certified preferred, required within 6 months of hire
Two years chemo/infusion experience preferred
Bachelor's Degree Nursing (BSN) preferred
- BLS & ACLS required
