Job Summary
The IV/PICC Nurse is a Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing patients individualized IV access needs, developing a specific plan related to IV Therapy needs and implementing and evaluating an individualized plan for each patient.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Successful completion of an Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma Program.
Required Skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required through American Heart Association (AHA) by the completion of hospital orientation
Required Skills
Licenses: Requires a current state Registered Nurse license upon hire.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the insertion of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC).
Provide maintenance and follow-up care for PICC lines and central lines.
Serve as a preceptor for RN's who have successfully completed a training course for the insertion of PICC Lines.
Initiates training and education for nursing staff, patient/family as required.
Performs assessment skills.
Plans nursing care.
Intervenes with appropriate action after needs are identified.
Evaluates the assessment, planning and intervention process.
Demonstrates professional and personal development.
Deliver direct patient care appropriate to age of patient served including adult and geriatric patients.
Provides specialized knowledge, assessment, and skills in clinical setting in regards to obtaining vascular access, maintaining vascular access and troubleshooting vascular access devices.
Performs the appropriate application of the device algorithm.
Performs ultrasound guided peripheral IV starts.
Administers Cath Flow for obstructed lines, per physician order.
