Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) Position Summary

The Wound Care Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering specialized wound care services, including patient assessment, direct care, clinical staff education, and family instruction to ensure effective treatment outcomes and support rehabilitation goals.

Essential Functions
  • Perform patient assessments to identify wound care needs and appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluate patient progress and wound healing outcomes, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Initiate and implement nursing interventions tailored to the patient's condition.
  • Provide direct wound care based on patient condition and age-specific needs.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care procedures, prevention strategies, and discharge instructions.
  • Provide clinical staff education related to wound care treatment plans, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information

Requires strong assessment, planning, and communication skills.

Must be able to collaborate across disciplines to ensure continuity of care.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Education: Graduate of an accredited Wound Ostomy Care Nurse program.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in wound care required.

License: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required; ACLS preferred; WOCN certification preferred.
