Position Summary
The Registrar collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services and ensures a smooth, efficient registration process. This role is responsible for collecting insurance, co-pays, and deductibles at the point of service while providing a positive first impression of the hospital to patients and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Associate's Degree preferred
License

- Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually

Essential Functions
- Ensures all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered accurately and timely into the registration system
- Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or family members
- Meets with patients or caregivers before or after admission to exchange information, explain processes, and address questions or concerns
- Communicates with physician offices, nursing units, and other staff to coordinate admissions and determine appropriate placement
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization when required
- Collects and processes co-pays and deductibles or refers patients to financial counseling as appropriate
- Expedites the registration process efficiently while maintaining accuracy
- Provides a welcoming and professional first impression to all patients and visitors
