Position Summary

Examines and treats patients with breathing-related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. Provides patient education on therapies and medication use; performs physiotherapy and related treatments. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

  • Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; may perform bedside PFTs, EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.
  • Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment.
  • Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices.
  • Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources.
  • Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness.
  • Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment.
  • Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What we're looking for:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • License: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in state of practice
  • Certifications: BCLS
