Position Summary
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient testing, procedures, and admissions while ensuring accurate data entry, insurance verification, and authorization completion. This role also handles incoming calls and supports efficient patient access services.

Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or GED - Required
- Associate's Degree - Preferred
- Equivalent experience (minimum 3 years in a related role) may substitute for education
Minimum Work Experience
- Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment - Strongly Preferred
- Medical terminology knowledge - Preferred
- Billing and/or collections experience - Preferred
- Computer experience - Required

- Handle with Care training required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually

Essential Functions
- Schedule patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical procedures while ensuring staff and resources are available
- Obtain physician orders and secure authorization/pre-certification for services
- Accurately enter procedures and patient data into scheduling and order entry systems
- Verify and enter insurance information correctly
- Inform patients or physician offices of out-of-network issues or benefit limitations
- Communicate special instructions, preparation requirements, or additional documentation needs
- Maintain awareness of upcoming schedules to ensure proper staffing and readiness
- Ensure consistency between scheduling and admissions systems for patient records
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient inquiries
