Position Summary:
Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager/Director
FLSA: Non-exempt
The CV Scheduler performs various clerical duties to support unit operations, including updating and organizing information, coordinating tasks within the unit and across departments, and communicating relevant updates to the supervisor. Schedules patient tests, procedures, and admissions, ensuring accurate entry of pre-certification and authorization numbers into the scheduling or registration system. Collects and updates insurance information and responds to inquiries from patients, visitors, and caregivers while answering incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Schedule all patient appointments for ancillary, surgical, and medical procedures/admissions, ensuring availability of personnel
- Inform patients and physician office staff of insurance network restrictions or potential benefit reductions
- Provide patients and physician office staff with special instructions or testing requirements, along with relevant documentation
- Monitor and manage scheduling reports to ensure registration staff are informed of patient arrivals, appropriate testing is conducted, and necessary personnel are available
- Obtain and verify physician orders, authorizations, and pre-certifications, entering outpatient procedures into the Order Entry System
- Ensure consistency between the scheduling and admissions modules for patients being admitted for services

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred

- Proficiency in operating standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, telephones, fax machines, and scanners
- Computer proficiency
Desired Experience:
- Prior surgical inpatient scheduling experience is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, billing, and collections
