How you'll contribute 

The Senior Receptionist will provide front office support in a physician office setting. This position will also coordinate and oversee the activities of the front office team members to ensure effective and efficient front office workflow.
 

Qualifications and requirements 

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Required - 1 year work experience in a medical or dental office environment or equivalent healthcare experience.
Preferred - Previous experience working in a medical setting. HIPAA knowledge.
 

Essential Functions:

Answers telephone promptly and courteously, takes accurate and complete messages, forwards or answers inquiries as appropriate. Schedules all patients according to policy and procedures.

♦Collects, verifies and performs insurance eligibility into the practice management system. Collects co-payments or old balances and provides written receipts for all payment transactions.

Makes patient record available to physician or clinical staff, as needed. Prepares EMR for new patients to include all essential patient information. Verifies and updates existing patients annually.

Scans all patient information into appropriate area in practice management system.

Balances and closes cash drawer. Downloads appropriate documentation into designated files.

Ensures supplies, equipment, and work environment are kept clean, well stocked, and organized at all times.

Phones, electronically submits, or faxes prescriptions/ refills to pharmacies.

Identify front office issues and recommend solutions to Practice Manager.

Report patient concerns and/or complaints to Practice Manager.

Monitor the flow of patient check-in and check-out.

Excellent communications and effective teamwork with patients, providers, clerical and front office team members.

Train all new front office staff.
