How you'll contribute 

A Senior Health Information Management Technician who excels in this role will:

  • Serve as a central liaison across the revenue cycle, coordinating communication between hospital coding teams, outsourced coding vendors, Case Management, CDI staff, and billing to ensure accurate and timely health record completion.

  • Monitor DNFB and unbilled accounts proactively, identifying workflow gaps and driving follow-through actions that reduce delays and support revenue cycle performance targets.

  • Oversee and improve HIM analysis workflows, ensuring records meet documentation standards while maintaining productivity and quality expectations.

  • Track and manage provider deficiencies, validating documentation issues and facilitating timely physician notification to maintain compliance with Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.

  • Support denial prevention and resolution efforts, partnering with billing and revenue cycle teams to address documentation gaps and strengthen clean claim performance.

  • Provide training and mentorship to HIM staff, using audit findings and productivity data to guide education, onboard new team members, and promote best practices in health record analysis.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence, maintaining adherence to accreditation standards and supporting leadership with reporting, performance monitoring, and process improvements.

What we're looking for

  • Associate degree preferred in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

  • Required coursework in anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, and computer technology if RHIT credential is not held.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare or related experience, preferably in Health Information Management or revenue cycle operations.

  • Strong understanding of health record documentation standards and HIM workflows, including record analysis and deficiency management.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, coding staff, CDI, case management, and billing departments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to address documentation issues and workflow updates clearly and professionally.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to work within electronic health record and reporting systems.
