Essential Functions:
- Assists pharmacy staff and other staff members in the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the automated medication distribution process.
- Coordinates the implementation of new automation equipment and software.
- Identifies problems that require referral to vendor support and coordinates communication with appropriate service personnel.
- Manages the user database and maintains an up-to-date user list an activates and deletes users as necessary.
- Manages inventory of units and reviews and adjusts par levels as necessary.
- Assists the pharmacy directory with inventory management and meeting average inventory turn goals through waste reduction, safe practices, and optimization of automated dispensing cabinets.
- Establishes and reviews daily batch reports such as refill reports, stock out reports, discrepancies, overrides, ordered meds not loaded, etc.
- Orients pharmacy and nursing staff to automation equipment and serves as a resource for ancillary departments (nursing, anesthesia, respiratory, etc.)
- Serves as an education resource for employees regarding automation software and equipment issues.
- Assists with appropriate controlled substances process and procedures, record maintenance, and auditing of department compliance.
- Oversees daily technician workflow; rounds on team and conducts one on one meetings with direct reports.
- Manages team member performance using routine feedback and corrective action if needed.
- Supervises and manages direct reports.
- Contributes to team member scheduling and time off approvals
- Participates in quality improvement projects and provides team with timely coaching on decision making, best practices, and performance.
- Participates in interviewing and hiring of pharmacy team members, and also coordinates, facilitates, and monitors training of new pharmacy technicians.
- Acts as a primary resource for new department procedures, onboarding, and cross-training.
- Participates in safety reviews and analysis; ensures compliance of team with regulatory, compliance, and licensure requirements.
- Oversees and audits the inspection and maintenance of patient care and pharmacy areas.
- Collaborates with colleagues and other leaders to solve interdepartmental issues.
- Is an advocate for pharmacy technicians and all pharmacy team members by contributes to a positive, inclusive, and progressive departmental culture, and ensures safe, accurate, and efficient workflow performance.
- Facilitates and empowers team to work proactively and identify solutions to problems
- Supports and contributes to implementation of departmental and organizational initiatives
Education/Certification:
Current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire
