How you'll contribute
A Surgical Scrub Tech who excels in this role: This is an Obstetric Department and there are more duties to this position than just surgical scrub tech.
Essential Functions
Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
Performs on call services as requested.
Actively participates and ensures room turnovers are efficient and timely.
Restocking the department labor and postpartum rooms
Clinical equipment checks
Checking outdates on supplies
Assisting at vaginal deliveries if surgical lacerations or repairs are needed
Assist in opening the OR in an emergency
Cleaning out the OR - trash, instruments
Vaginal instrument cleaning and getting ready for sterile processing
Skills/Experience
Major Abdominal surgery
Total/partial hysterectomy
Bladder/urinary surgeries/repair
Hemorrhage
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. This is Fast paced, busy clinic. Large group of physicians
Minimum Work Experience: One year related experience, preferred. One year clinic experience, preferred.
Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). Basic Life Support (BLS).
