Position Summary

The Supply Chain Technician is responsible for stocking and maintaining supplies across hospital departments using computer-assisted tools and standard inventory practices to support efficient patient care operations. This position ensures that departments have the supplies necessary to provide quality care and that inventory is accurately tracked and maintained.

The Supply Chain Technician reports to the Director or Manager of the department.

Required Skills

Minimum Education

- High School diploma preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

- Previous supply chain, inventory, or healthcare materials management experience preferred.

Skills

- Demonstrates critical thinking and decisive judgment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple computer systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Effective English communication skills including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
- Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Essential Functions

- Performs periodic cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory and adjusts inventory records as necessary.
- Stocks hospital units with office and medical supplies and prepares requisitions to maintain appropriate par levels.
- Receives shipments, logs receipts, enters data into the inventory system, and delivers items to departments or other facilities.
- Reports and documents shipment errors, damages, or discrepancies to management.
- Answers the telephone, receiving dock, and walk-up window professionally and routes calls or messages appropriately.
- Completes clerical and computer tasks that support patient care delivery.
- Processes outgoing mail.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
