Telemetry Technician (EKG)
Reports To: Director of Intensive Care Unit
Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Technician performs continuous cardiac monitoring of patients to support safe and effective patient care. This role is responsible for recognizing cardiac rhythm changes, identifying patient distress, and promptly communicating findings to the clinical team.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required
Associate's degree - Preferred
Licensure
EMT, EMT-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA - Preferred
OR completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN)
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire - Required
Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course - Required

Essential Functions
Performs continuous surveillance of multiple cardiac monitors
Recognizes significant arrhythmias and signs of patient distress and takes appropriate action
Identifies and corrects monitoring artifacts
Reports abnormal telemetry findings and changes in patient condition (physical, mental, or emotional) to nursing staff promptly
Ensures monitoring equipment is functioning properly
Reports equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor
Non-Essential Functions
Performs other duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations
