Vascular Sonographer

Schedule: this is a PRN role that will work 8 hour shifts from 8 am to 5:00 pm. This role will fill in for our full and part-time staff and could work at some of our satellite clinics.

How you'll contribute

A Vascular Sonographer who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Selects transducer, and makes equipment adjustments according to nature of test, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
  • Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested; refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an associate degree in ultrasound/sonography or equivalent and a New Mexico license to practice as a Sonographer. Additional requirements include:

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • License: ARDMS registered or if new graduate, must be ARDMS or RCS eligible and pass a test in at least one area (ie Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment.
