Position Summary:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches and operation manuals.

Performs carpentry skills including building, reading blueprints, and taking measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Performs repairs on hospital equipment.Performs preventive maintenance inspections.Completes required documentation according to departmental policy.Maintains hospital in a safe and orderly fashion.Demonstrates flexibility in performance of tasks• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed• Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements• Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items• Help put up, level, and install building framework• Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures• Instruct and direct laborers and other construction trade helpers• Lay out floorings, walls drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated• Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance• Build scaffolding and other construction structures
Reports to: Director of Maintenance [Plant Operations]


Required Skills• Proven experience as carpenter• Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials• Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction• Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)• Ability to read technical documents and drawings• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
Minimum EducationMinimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent - RequiredMilitary or shop training with courses in electricity, carpentry, mechanics or two years experience in maintenance preferred.
Minimum Work ExperienceTwo years in maintenance and carpentry field preferred.
