Position Summary:

  • Manages phlebotomists on their team, in all aspects of their job, to ensure all specimens are collected correctly based on test requirements.
  • Coordinates breaks to ensure adequate coverage for respective areas.
  • Assists in evaluations and yearly competencies for all phlebotomists.
  • Works with other lead phlebotomists to assist with scheduling.
  • Functions as one of the department's primary contacts with patients.  
  • Brings all concerns and prospective issues immediately to the lab director.

Essential Functions:

Reports to: Phlebotomist Supervisor


Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required. 

Minimum Education
Completion of a Phlebotomy course or equivalent training/experience - Required.

Required Skills
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Licenses
[West Virginia, United States] Other
Phlebotomy licensure or equivalent experience

Minimum Work Experience
Formal phlebotomy training and/or certification through an accrediting agency such as the International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences, Inc - preferred.
