POSITION SUMMARY: 

Coordinates and engages in the day to day activities occurring in the front office of the Rehab Services Department. 

Essential Functions:
Receives, screens, and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates, and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate.

Registers patients, verifies data and assists with completing any and all forms. Obtains and updates demographic, billing and third party coverage information. Explains policies and procedures to patients, families and visitors as needed. Performs these tasks efficiently with careful attention to detail with a minimal error rate.

Maintains files and office equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must have the ability to work independently, have strong communication skills, good basic math skills and be computer literate. Coding experience preferable. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Customer service skills a must. A service oriented personality is required.

Minimum Work Experience: Prefer two years clerical experience.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Extended periods of time sitting and walking, bending and stooping may be required.  Ability to do repetitive work, keyboarding and writing.  Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.  Has the ability to lift and move 25 pounds. Vision and hearing corrected to normal limits. Potential exposure to patients or other individuals who may be physically or verbally abusive.
