Participates in and maintains credentialing and privileging 

Determines applicant's initial eligibility for membership/privileges Requests applications for potential providers from the HSC 

Analyzes application and supporting documents; compiles credentialing files Coordinates subsequent review and approval by appropriate leadership levels 

Maintains credentialing database to ensure that accurate and current information is available and in compliance with TJC standards 

Coordinates and presents at new provider orientation; works with the Education Department to ensure completion of full orientation prior to provider beginning patient care in the hospital

Coordinates and shares provider data with Informatics and Information Systems to build access in computer systems 

Coordinates and is responsible for planning and scheduling monthly Credentials Committee meetings, sending meeting notices/reminders, recording meeting minutes, preparing reports for the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Board 

Serves as an important, reliable resource to medical staff and administration with regard to compliance, bylaws, rules and regulations and policies and procedures; participates in ongoing assessments 

Is required to attend quarterly Joint Medical Staff and Department meetings 

Inspires trust and confidence through reliability, authenticity and accountability 

Expresses thoughts clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing; ensures timely sharing of information and communication 

Displays a credible presence and positive image; uses appropriate protocol for professional situations

Establishes productive, cooperative relationships with subordinates, peers, management and providers both internal and external to the organization 

Applies knowledge, sound judgment and consults other references and resources as necessary to generate and evaluate solutions and recommendations 

Organizes work, sets priorities and strategizes to achieve them

 


Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Computer: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
Clerical: Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Experience as Executive Assistant, Credentialing or Paralegal strongly preferred. Strong computer knowledge and organization skills necessary.
Department Specific: Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

 Minimum Work Experience

Minimum 2 years experience in provider hospital privileging/credentialing
