How you'll contribute

A PRN Exercise Specialist who excels in this role:

• Will formulate, implement, and update clinical exercise prescriptions, as well as provide exercise therapy for adult and geriatric Phase 2, 3 and spouse participants.
• Schedule patient interviews, acquire medical records from referring physicians, and coordinate patient education.
• Communicate to CPR coordinator and patient's physician's significant changes in response to exercise, update changes in procedures, collect and analyze patient exercise data.
• Assess patient vital signs, monitors patient's cardiac rhythms-before, during, and after exercise activities.
• Demonstrate positive customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, peers, and other department/support services.
• Demonstrate good communication skills.
• Work well with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
• Assist in emergency situations.
• Perform other duties as related to the essential functions of this position.

What we're looking for

• Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Basic Life Support certification is required at the time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support is required within six months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these certifications.
• At least six months prior experience in patient care, in the field of exercise prescription, with previous cardiopulmonary experience is preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
