Position Summary:

  • The Materials Management Technician assists the Director of Materials Management in operating the Materials Management Department in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Minimum Education / Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent,  Preferred
  • Two years’ experience in materials handling or purchasing, Preferred

Required Skills / Essential Functions:

  • Reconciles pricing/quantity/item discrepancies for non-storeroom orders placed through CSC (Customer Service Center – Nashville, TN). 
  • Forwards necessary price adjustments and updates to the Oracle item master to CSC. Processes special purchase requests. 
  • Maintains orders, and stock for all hospital units. 
  • Checks for expiring product. Updates departmental inventory levels with product changes, additions, and deletions. 
  • Manages backorders to ensure product is arriving in a timely manner, contacts vendor on backorders. 
  • Uses RF Smart system to receive trucks daily and delivery goods to necessary departments and to scan inventory in hospital units daily to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Work to action recalls for all materials as reported, notifying appropriate depts, reporting to EOC and obtaining new product. 
  • Pulls items from storeroom as necessary. Setup new items through VIRA as needed. Print and change material labels to ensure everything is up to date as we change product sku’s.
  • Closely communicates with Purchasing Manager on all issues impacting inventory.
  • Owns all organization and stocking of onsite materials room to be used as backup emergent stock for all departments.
  • Works closely with Director of Purchasing with new projects as they arise. 
  • Research items for Department Managers to find best items for them with contract pricing, samples. 
  • Help conduct yearend inventory for all supply areas. 
  • Answers the telephone, directs calls, and takes messages- This role will carry a work provided cell phone during business hours.
  • This role will require driving of company vehicle to and from our Georgetown Community Hospital to pick up supplies and transport them to and from Bluegrass Community Hospital daily.
  • Cross trains on all aspects of the Purchasing office. Works well with others; assists coworkers when needed; complies with supervisor’s requests; communicates well with personnel, patients, visitors, and physicians. 
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively and handle stress in positive manner
  • Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration and all hospital departments 
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
