Job Summary

  • Performs a variety of routine tasks such as daily cleaning, salad preparation, cafeteria counter service, food and non-food storage, pot washing, dish machine washing, and other routine assignments
  • May prepare and/or set up food for special meal functions.

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment in area of work assigned each day
  • Keeps all dish cloths in a sanitizing solution between uses
  • Assures that area of work is organized including preparation and serving areas
  • Sweeps and mops all floors including kitchen, storeroom, walk in coolers, offices and restrooms
  • Polishes stainless steel equipment in serving area as time permits
  • Prepares all salads, desserts, beverages, fruits and other cold items ordered for patients trays or the cafeteria at each meal
  • Assures that all prepared items are attractive, fresh, and prepared according to sanitation guidelines
  • Accurately fills cold order production for breakfast, lunch and supper and is ready for patient tray services at 7:15 am, 11:00 am and 4:30 pm
  • Shows creativity in the presentation of prepared items
  • When the cafeteria is open, constantly checks to see that all bars are kept clean and stocked
  • Delivers all late request within 20 minutes
  • Demonstrates specific competencies when serving patients of all ages
  • Unpacks and properly stores all delivered food items and other supplies
  • Follows department guidelines for storing all food items in proper areas such as freezer, refrigerator, or storeroom
  • Stores all perishables items within 20 minutes
  • Promptly moves all boxes and other packing materials so that passageways are not blocked
  • Assists in storing items at any time of day as required so that no delivered items are stacked on the floor
  • Wash and sanitize all patient and cafeteria trays, plates, domes, pellets and other meal service items as well as pots, pans and utensils when assigned
  • Clean dish room, including tray return, floor and walls at the end of each shift
  • Wash patient food carts with detergent and disinfectant after each meal service
  • Organizes pots and pans before washing to assure neat, efficient workflow
  • Wash all pots and pans before leaving shift
  • Mops under all floor mats daily
  • Disposes of trash, breaks down boxes to put into dumpster
  • Storerooms and walk in coolers/freezer are kept clean and orderly daily
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred

Experience

  • Requires the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
