How you’ll contribute 

As Coder I, you will apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing.Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assigning accurate ICD diagnosis codes, using compliant documentation
  • Assigning accurate CPT/HCPCS codes to records, using compliant documentation.
  • Applying knowledge of Coding Guidelines to select the appropriate diagnosis code
  • Using available research and reference tools to understand the disease process and diagnosis
  • Interpreting physician documentation within the coding guidelines and obtains clarification from physicians regarding vague or ambiguous record documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and requirements 

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required

Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required

License:

Certified Coder


Skills and Abilities:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
