Join the Surgical Services team at Highpoint Health - Winchester, where collaboration, flexibility, and a positive work environment are at the heart of what we do. Supporting six operating rooms and approximately 15-20 procedures daily, you'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe surgical environment while working alongside a supportive team that steps in to help one another. How you'll contribute  

A Housekeeper who excels in this role: 

  • Perform cleaning and turnover of operating rooms between surgical procedures, including disinfecting equipment and surfaces, mopping floors, removing trash, and replacing liners.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the Surgical Services Department, including operating rooms, staff lounges, locker rooms, central sterile processing, decontamination areas, and supply rooms.

  • Follow established infection prevention, isolation, and environmental cleaning protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff.

  • Collect and properly dispose of waste and soiled linens in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

  • Restock designated supplies and maintain clean, organized work areas.

  • Operate and clean around surgical equipment, including electronic operating room beds, following appropriate procedures.

  • Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment in safe, clean, and working condition.

  • Prioritize responsibilities and adjust workflow as surgical schedules and operating room turnover needs change.

  • Work independently to identify and complete daily cleaning tasks while collaborating with Surgical Services staff during room turnovers.

  • Communicate additional cleaning needs or concerns to department leadership and assist with maintaining department cleanliness standards.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

What we're looking for 
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferred. Additional requirements include: 

  • Previous healthcare, clinical housekeeping, environmental services, or commercial cleaning experience preferred but not required.

  • No prior healthcare experience necessary; training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and complete assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, infection prevention, and patient safety.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work collaboratively with nurses, surgical staff, and other team members.

  • Ability to remain on your feet and move throughout the department for extended periods.

  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, lift, push, and move equipment as necessary to complete cleaning responsibilities.

  • Willingness to work around blood, bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals, and other materials commonly encountered in a healthcare environment.

  • Ability and willingness to learn the safe operation and positioning of electronic surgical equipment as needed for cleaning.

  • Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to recognize and address cleaning needs without constant direction.

 

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
