Position Summary:

 Coordinates administrative and technical operations of point of care testing, laboratory testing at hospital based practices, and outreach laboratories in accordance with strategic objectives.  Manages the customer service/specimen processing area of the laboratory. Assures the validity of all Quality Control and technical procedures. Must be a focal point for problem solving in matters relating to personnel, policies and procedures. Identify and facilitate the development of procedures necessary to meet or exceed the needs of our patients, physicians and other customers.  Consults with physicians in matters relating to the area of their expertise.  Assures lab compliance with all accrediting agencies, external regulations, billing requirements and with all lab and hospital policies.  Ensures that the age-specific needs of all patients, from the neonate to the geriatric patient are met and included in all policies, procedures and educational material relating to the area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Medical Lab Science or chemical, physical, or biological science and graduate of an NAACLS    approved laboratory training program as applicable to the position. May also qualify under route 2, 3, or 4 of the ASCP Board of Certification.  Proven strong clinical skills and at least five years’ experience in point of care testing. Must be certified as a Medical Technologist or a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
