Wage Scale: $20.12-$30.49

Essential Functions:

  • Anesthesia Tech. Duties Have corrected blade for each provider and quantity for the number of cases.
  • Open all the rooms: check that each room is clean Calibrate each machine check each room for needed supplies check for extra needed equipment or supplies for that case, (example- pediatric cart, spinal cart, vascular cart) Assist anesthesia as needed, is available to bring supplies to OR rooms. Watch for rooms to finish to help with turnovers and set-ups for next cases.
  • Stock the rooms during the day if possible and communicate with night staff to check and make sure all the carts and anesthesia machines have what they need for the next day.
  • Make sure there are circuits and masks in every room Check the warmers throughout the day for blankets and Lactated Ringers.
  • Fluids, make sure you stock enough blankets for the next day or if there are children’s cases scheduled the next day.
  • Assists with technical aspects of getting patients ready for general or regional anesthesia. Assists anesthesia clinicians with obtaining intravenous and intra-arterial and other monitoring catheters.
  • Verifies functioning and proper layout of equipment and disposable products. 
  • Orders, stocks, and sets up anesthesia equipment in all ORs on a daily basis and between each case, this includes epidural cart in OB.
  • Cleans and sterilizes all anesthesia equipment when necessary. 
  • Maintains anesthesia equipment. Assists in maintaining equipment repair logs and gives input to clinical engineering database to maintain equipment. 
  • Interfaces and collaborates with other disciplines, such as anesthesia repair contractors, OR and OB staff, CRNA personnel, anesthesiologist and OR Director. 
  • Assists in capital equipment preparation in cooperation with the Anesthesia Department and OR Director and Clinical Engineering.
  •  Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards. All required safety education programs have been attended.
  • Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questions.
  • Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructed.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by department standards.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions. 
  • Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective-barrier equipment.
  • Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
  • Attends annual education programs. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Interacts with all of the above in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner as observed by manager and peers.
  • Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly manner as measured by management observation and peer input.
  • Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
  • Maintains open communication using appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
  • Conducts all work activities with respect for rights and wishes of patients, visitors, families, and fellow employees.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by peers and management.
  • Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identifications as required by the position, department, and hospital policy.
  • Continuously displays a “can do” attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place at the hospital. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. 
  • Participates in staff meetings as determined by manager.
  • Supports the hospital’s mission, policies, and procedures through attendance and participation at committee meetings, if applicable.
  • Utilizes automated systems to communicate inter and intra departmentally, as appropriate.
  • Completes work assignments on time/readily accepts assignments as observed by manager.
  • Reports to work on time, as observed by manager. Is at work as scheduled, as observed by manager.

Qualifications and requirements 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
