Perform all duties of the Registration Clerk position.

  1. Possesses a full working knowledge of each position within the Patient Access Department.
  2. Updates department Procedure manual based on any changes or revisions of the process established in each location.
  3. Performs and oversees all patient registration activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient information.
  4. Assist patients with completing necessary documentation and provide clear, helpful information about hospital services and procedures.
  5. Utilize and update hospital information systems (e.g., Paragon) to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

Performs Training to all new and Existing Patient Access Staff

  1. Teaches new staff by utilizing the training agenda and requires each staff member to sign off on training schedule upon completion of each section as trained.
  2. Develops new employee assessments and completes assessment at conclusion of initial 4-week training sessions.
  3. Communicates with Patient Access Director the status of the current trainee and the strengths and weaknesses in order to compile evaluation information as needed.
  4. Maintains and updates Department Procedure book regularly as necessary.

Monitors staff to ensure competent in assigned positions.

  1. Responsible for the daily account registration audits for accuracy, reviews daily reports accordingly.
  2. Oversees the daily work routines and addresses any processes not followed as established per insurance or admitting location processes.
  3. Monitors department accuracy and schedules training as needed in order to maintain department accuracy standards.
  4. Enters and maintain information to appropriate logs as required.
  5. Follow-up with staff members who are found to have missing/incorrect information.
  6. Ensures that all employees adhere to hospital and departmental policies in regards to confidentiality, courtesy,

and respect toward fellow employees, physicians, patients and their families.

Quality Assurance and Improvement:

  1. Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of patient registration and data accuracy.
  2. Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  3. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to streamline processes and enhance overall patient experience.

Performs In-services with Staff.

  1. Works closely with Patient Financial Services and Case Managers in order to provide up to date information related to accurate registrations on a regular basis.
  2. Presents all updated information in a group setting or individually in a timely manner in order to maintain department accuracy standards.
  3. Actively participates on special committees as assigned.
  4. Willingly accepts new assignments and/or Special Projects as assigned by the Director of Patient Access and Financial Services.
  5. Provide support by covering callouts and filling gaps in the schedule as needed to maintain uninterrupted patient access services.

Working Conditions:

  1. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  2. May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of supplies or equipment.

  4. Coordinate with the Patient Access Manager to anticipate and address staffing needs.
