02101 Athletic Trainer position for Summertown and Loretto

The athletic trainer is the liaison between the patient and/or parents, the medical doctors or their support staffs, the medical assistant, athletes, coaches and contracted outreach community. Prevention of Athletic Injuries: Design and Implement Prevention programs. Job Knowledge: Understanding of job duties, know­ how in performing assigned tasks. Ambition/Initiative: Willingness to put forth effort in starting an activity, contribute to new ideas or seek improvement.

Hiring 2 positions - 1 for Summertown High School, 1 for Loretto High School


Reports to: Director of Physician Services

FLSA: Non-exempt

1.       Responsible for data collection and data entry (patient history).

2.       Responsible to provide home exercise protocols for patients per the doctor's request.

3.       Responsible for patient setup and education of electrical modality units.

4.       Responsible for patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.

5.       Responsible for following all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.

6.        Responsible for following all OSHA guidelines while handling blood or bodily fluids.

7.        Determination of an athlete’s physical readiness to participate

8.        Knowledge of injury evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

9.       Knowledge of normal anatomical structure and function.

10.    Knowledge of physiological demand and response to exercise.

11.    Knowledge of normal biomechanical demands of exercise.

12.    Presentation of educational programs for the healthy and injured athlete’s (i.e., alcohol and other drug abuse, performance anxiety)

 

 13.    Know ledge of nutritional demands of the athlete.

14.    Know ledge of contraindications and side effects of prescription and non-prescription medications.

15.    Know ledge of absorption, dissipation, and transmission of energy of varying materials. (i.e., protective padding)

16.    Know ledge of legal requirements and rules of the athletic event.

17.    Implementation of pre-season, in-season and post- season strength and conditioning programs.

18.    Works confidently in crisis or in an emergency situation.

19.    Demonstrates knowledge of safety practices. (see attached checklist)

20.    Uses assigned athletic training equipment safely and efficiently.

21.    Develops treatment programs in accordance with findings of evaluations and goals established by the injury assessment or by the treating physician.

22.    Assesses athlete’s status in response to treatment and modifies programs as appropriate.

23.    Applies treatment procedures and modalities in accordance with established indications and contraindications.

24.    Prepares athlete for treatment and insures comfort and safety of athletes.

25.   Instructs athlete in therapeutic exercise, and strength and conditioning programs.

26.   Informs athlete and families of important aspects of athlete’s present condition, including concussion, wound care, first aid and follow-up care.

27.   Informs physician and program manager of any necessary documentation or observable signs that need investigation.

28.    Engaged actively in marketing activities to promote growth of STRHS Sports Medicine.

29.    Promoted health education through community events and presentations.

30.    Maintaining business relationships and development of   STRHS Sports Medicine referral network.

31.    Meets criteria for certification as established in the National Athletic Trainers Association with respect to CEU's.


 
Minimum Education
□ Graduate of a Program in Discipline, Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training Required
