This supervisor position supports the Patient Financial Services Director (PFSD) with assigned duties to include by are not limited to maintaining work scheduled, monitoring staff time and attendance.

Assists in creating and working various reports and tasks, monitoring department and staff performance and productivity.

Is proactive in communicating often with physician offices, nursing staff, and other appropriate personnel regarding admission and discharges as necessary.

Verifies patient insurance benefits and obtains pre-certifications/authorizations as necessary.

Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles and acts as a patient financial counselor as needed for proper follow up collection activities.

Assists PFSD with staff training, mentoring, evaluations, and performance management as well as QA and missed opportunities.

Assumes on-call responsibilities to ensure adequate staffing and availability for any problem solving needs that may arise. Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments in an effort to maintain a teamwork approach. Responsible for filling in as needed at front counter, registration area, PBX switchboard, ER registration, or other areas as assigned to include nights and weekends.

Assists PFSD with KRONOS entry and edits.


Minimum education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate's degree preferred.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 

Minimum Work Experience

3-5 years of recent, progressive, healthcare related experience preferred

2-4 years of leadership experience preferred

Strong data analytical and MS Excel skills.

Strong clinical knowledge of ID 10 and billing codes.
