Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) is a 47-bed acute care facility that provides medical services to the people of Los Alamos County and surrounding areas. A healthcare leader in Northern New Mexico, LAMC offers a host of services including 24-hour emergency care, imaging and laboratory services, women’s services, urology, orthopedics, oncology, pediatric and newborn care, and general and colorectal surgery.

Los Alamos Medical Center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is an accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC).  

As PFT Respiratory Therapist, this position will perform diagnostic testing such as full Pulmonary Function Tests, VO2 MAX, and Spirometry testing. Responsible for setting up, maintenance and operations of the PFT system.  Must exhibit competency in the performance of routine patient assessment and in the ability to correctly recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction.  Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.  Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.  Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.  Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, and Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.  Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.


Requires:  Licenses: Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of NM

Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
