Our Plant Operations team plays an essential role in keeping our hospital safe, reliable, and ready to serve our community. As a team member, you'll have the opportunity to use a broad range of maintenance skills, work independently when needed, and gain hands-on experience while supporting the day-to-day needs of a close-knit hospital environment.

 

How you'll contribute  

A Maintenance Worker who excels in this role: 

  • Provide general maintenance support for the hospital's buildings, equipment, utilities, and grounds.

  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, construction, and general repair work based on skill level and assigned needs.

  • Troubleshoot routine facility problems and complete minor repairs.

  • Assist with preventive maintenance and general Plant Operations activities.

  • Participate in the facility's on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance needs.

  • Respond onsite to urgent facility needs when called, including assigned utility/equipment-related issues.

  • Assist with HVAC-related maintenance and troubleshooting based on experience and training.

  • Monitor facility conditions and communicate identified maintenance concerns to Plant Operations leadership.

  • Complete assigned maintenance work and communicate status/progress.

  • Follow hospital safety, hazardous-material, regulatory, confidentiality, and Plant Operations procedures.

  • Complete required documentation and basic computer-based tasks.

  • Coordinate with other hospital departments when maintenance support is required.

  • Perform other Plant Operations duties as assigned.

 

What we're looking for 
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, required. Additional requirements include:  

  • General hands-on maintenance, construction, mechanical, trade, or related experience OR relevant vocational/trade-school training.

  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability.

  • Ability to work independently with appropriate direction.

  • Willingness to learn hospital-specific equipment and maintenance procedures.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Dependability and ability to respond to variable PRN needs.

Strongly Preferred

  • Availability to participate in after-hours/weekend on-call coverage.

  • Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, construction, HVAC, or general facility maintenance.

  • Broad "jack-of-all-trades" maintenance ability.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine repairs independently.

  • Willingness to pick up shifts at both Trousdale and Riverview when feasible.

Nice to Have

  • HVAC experience/training.

  • Hospital/facility maintenance experience.

  • Vocational/trade-school education.

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements.

 

Schedule: PRN/as-needed; primary need is on-call coverage. On-call rotation runs Mon-Sun, including evenings/overnights and 24-hour weekend coverage. Additional hours may be available based on facility needs.
