Position Summary:

Performs specialized duties relating to the care of and setting up of instruments and equipment used by the operating room, clinics and individualized hospital departments.

Reports to: Manager

FLSA:  Non-exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment.
Cleans and disinfects all equipment. Prepares equipment and specialty trays for processing and sterilization as assigned.
Assesses equipment functioning and performance, notifies appropriate person of any defects/damage, and prepares equipment which needs to be sent out for repair.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate's degree (Preferred)
*Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills
Certifications: (only need one of the following)
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
OR
Certification as Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Minimum Work Experience
1 year in central supply (Preferred)
