Position Summary:

Sovah Health Martinsville is seeking a CSP Tech Certified to collect, decontaminate, store, and distribute all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.

  • Provide inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.Edit Delete
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with an emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy. Delete
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
  • Enters patient charges and orders into the computer system.
  • Able to problem solve to enhance the effectiveness of teamwork.
  • Conducts biological monitoring and interprets results.
  • Possess knowledge of the operations of the steam and ETO sterilizers.
  • Washes and decontaminates instruments and equipment from units throughout the hospital
  • Transports instruments and supplies to units
  • Removes equipment and supplies not in use; clean equipment and return to appropriate location for storage.
  • Utilizes standard precautions for infection control, i.e. hand-washing, body substance isolation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Requires flexibility in scheduling with the ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuity of care and nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.

    Required Certifications/Licenses:

    • Certified Registered Central Service Technician CRCST is required.
