How you'll contribute

The Material Handler is responsible for the disinfection and distribution of medical equipment.

Qualifications and requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Associates Degree preferred
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Essential functions:

  • Interacting with other departments in the hospital.
  • Prioritizing delivery schedule. Cleaning equipment with designated cleaner or bleach product, standing while cleaning equipment.
  • Ensuring daily C&D assignments and responsibilities are completed, providing support where needed.
  • Inspecting work area daily and reporting unsafe conditions to supervisor, following safe work practices in compliance with GEHC Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
  • Follow C&D standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensuring proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), for each task.
  • Logging into tracking system and running/reading par level reports.
  • Walking with cart filled with equipment through hospital.
  • Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environment of care, management of information, and infection control standards.
  • Complies with federal and state law and accrediting and licensing agencies at all times, to include but not limited to, TJC and federal compliance regulations.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and professional conferences.
