Position Summary:


The Registered Respiratory Therapist - Cardiopulmonary is a non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Cardiopulmonary. This role involves examining patients with breathing-related conditions, conducting diagnostic testing, and consulting with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. The therapist performs physiotherapy, administers treatments, and educates patients on the use of medications. The position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The Registered Respiratory Therapist must also be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action when needed.
Language skills include the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Essential functions include measuring lung capacity and analyzing blood samples using a blood gas analyzer. The therapist delivers therapy as prescribed, monitors, records, and communicates the patient's condition in accordance with the care plan. The role also involves evaluating respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. The Registered Respiratory Therapist responds to codes and emergent calls, assesses patient conditions, and provides appropriate treatment. Additionally, the therapist educates patients and their families about respiratory conditions and provides information on community support groups and other resources.
Responsibilities also include monitoring, receiving, stocking, and distributing respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, maintaining storage areas with adequate supply levels, and ensuring equipment is properly disassembled, cleaned, sterilized, and maintained through preventative maintenance and calibration.

Minimum Qualifications:


•    High School Diploma and Bachelor's Degree in Science required 
•    Current Respiratory Therapist Licensure to practice in the state of Oregon
•    Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care required
•    Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire date
•    Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred
