Join our dedicated Laboratory team at Swain Community, a 48-bed, fully-accredited hospital serving the residents of Swain and Graham counties.

How you'll contribute

A Medical Lab Tech who excels in this role:

Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic procedures for which competency has been verified.  

Maintains in a timely manner, records of procedure performance, patient results, and quality control.  

Follows defined protocol for investigating out-of-control runs and implements necessary remedial action.  

Reviews relevant laboratory reports for extraordinary results and clerical errors before they are reported to the patient's medical record.  

Maintains equipment in accordance with defined policies and protocols and logs preventive and remedial maintenance of equipment. 

Continuously helps to monitor job performance of peers or other employees.   

Performs secretarial, phlebotomy and specimen reception duties.

 What we're looking for

Applicants should have an associate's degree in science and an MLT certification through ASCP or AMT is preferred.  Additional requirements include:

· Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

· ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.

· One year of experience preferred

· ASLS certification preferred

Swain Community Hospital is a 48-bed, fully-accredited critical access hospital located in Bryson City, NC, which has been serving the residents of Swain and Graham counties since 1948. The hospital, along with an outpatient physician practice, offers primary and inpatient care, as well as emergency, laboratory, imaging, rehabilitation, urology, cardiopulmonary, geriatric outpatient, pediatric and gastroenterology services, and a pain clinic.
