PRN, variable shifts
Typical shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

How You'll Contribute:

• Perform clinical skills according to hospital policy and procedures

• Perform technical skills according to policy and procedures

• Maintain hospital and patient confidentiality

• Demonstrate concern for patient welfare by performing activities beyond primary care needs

• Apply knowledge of age-related factors appropriately, using hospital policies and procedures

Unit Snapshot:

• Average nurse-to-patient ratio: 6:1

• Nurse Externs work side-by-side with an RN and perform duties under RN supervision

• If working more than 3 shifts per week, the 4th shift will be scheduled as a Patient Care Technician (PCT)

• After graduating nursing school, Externs can transition into a Nurse Grad role. Once boards are passed, they can advance into an RN position on the Med/Surg floor

Leadership & Team:

• Interviews conducted by the Director and Assistant Director

• Nurse Externs report directly to the Director and Assistant Director for scheduling and support

• Collaborative team culture with mentorship and hands-on learning

Requirements:

• Proof of acceptance into a Registered Nurse program

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
