Position Summary: The Director of Surgical Services is a registered professional nurse who assumes a 24 hour accountability and responsibility for overall Surgical Services operations. Responsible for selection of staff and implementation of the service structure, as well as, maintaining the patient centered culture of the hospital. Responsible for the management of multiple aspects within the patient care environment, monitoring and maintaining clinical standards of care, and is accountable for appropriate staffing resources to provide quality patient care. Participates in or chairs committees, work groups, and meetings as deemed necessary. Director provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION

  • Minimum of associate’s degree of nursing
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred

EXPERIENCE 

  • 5 years experience in related clinical practice
  • 2 years in clinical leadership role preferred

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

  • Current RN license in the state of Iowa.
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS
