Job Title: Patient Coordinator

Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift 

Shift: 8 Hour 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital is operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Tampa General Hospital. As a Patient Coordinator, you will provide continuous patient support, coordinate the therapeutic environment, and collaborate with Registered Nurses, Behavioral Health Technicians, therapists, and other members of the treatment team.

Our team provides compassionate behavioral healthcare in a collaborative and patient-centered environment. We are seeking someone who is passionate about working with adolescents, experienced in facilitating patient education groups, and confident in verbally de-escalating challenging patient behaviors. This guidance was provided directly by the hiring team. 

How You'll Contribute

A Patient Coordinator who excels in this role:

• Maintains a safe, trauma-informed, and patient-centered therapeutic environment.
• Provides continuous patient supervision, interaction, support, and positive role modeling.
• Uses therapeutic communication, problem-solving, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.
• Encourages patients to participate in educational groups, therapeutic activities, and activities of daily living.
• Facilitates patient education groups and other approved therapeutic activities.
• Conducts routine safety checks and identifies potentially unsafe items or conditions.
• Reports physical, behavioral, or psychiatric changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Provides feedback to the interdisciplinary team to support treatment planning.
• Completes required documentation accurately and according to hospital policy.
• Provides shift handoffs and communicates important patient and unit information.
• Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new employees.
• Supports hospital committees, continuing education, and process-improvement projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned by nursing and clinical leadership.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should demonstrate a passion for supporting adolescents and improving behavioral health outcomes. Additional requirements include:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in psychology, social work, or a related field required.
• At least two years of behavioral health experience required.
• Experience facilitating patient education or therapeutic groups.
• Ability to verbally de-escalate patient behaviors.
• Knowledge of behavioral healthcare and trauma-informed practices.
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• CPR certification within 30 days of employment and before patient contact.
• De-escalation certification within 30 days of employment and before completing orientation.
• Trauma-informed care training within 30 days of employment.
• Dialectical behavior therapy training within 90 days of beginning the role.
