Position summary:

The House Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who maintains oversight responsibilities for all activities throughout the hospital in the absence of department managers and the administrative team to assure that services are provided in a safe, effective, and efficient manner as appropriate for the various age groups. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in policies and procedures and skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each individual's values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. The House Supervisor must maintain a high level of clinical expertise in order to provide assistance to various units and act as a resource. Serves as a spokesperson to the media if necessary. Meets regularly with administrative teams to assure adequate communication and to initiate problem-solving procedures. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, physicians, and other health team members while maintaining professional nursing standards. Ensures that care is of the best quality, is cost contained, and is carried out in an expeditious manner. Consults with staff, physicians and Chief Clinical Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains and participates in hospital performance improvement activities.


Associate's degree in Nursing Required. 

Registered Nurse License

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months 

Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Preferred 

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Preferred 

Other Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Preferred.

Will have 60 days from expiration to renew any certifications that expire.
