How You'll Contribute

The Registered Nurse (RN) Quality Coordinator supports Canyon Vista Medical Center's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program through coordination of quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory readiness, clinical performance measurement, data validation and analysis, evidence-based process improvement, and sustained follow-through on identified improvement opportunities.

The RN Quality Coordinator serves as an internal quality and patient-safety resource and collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, hospital administration, frontline staff, and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical outcomes, reduce preventable harm, strengthen regulatory compliance, improve patient experience, and promote a culture of high reliability and continuous improvement.

The position supports organizational readiness for accreditation and regulatory review; assists leaders with gap analysis, corrective action planning, implementation, monitoring, and validation of sustained compliance; and communicates quality performance and improvement priorities to appropriate committees and leadership. The RN Quality Coordinator practices within the Arizona Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies and procedures, applicable regulatory requirements, and demonstrated competency.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and supports hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives aligned with strategic goals, patient-safety priorities, patient-experience priorities, and regulatory requirements.

  • Facilitates multidisciplinary improvement projects using appropriate evidence-based improvement methodologies and supports teams in defining problems, establishing measures, testing interventions, and evaluating results.

  • Partners with leaders to identify clinical, operational, documentation, workflow, and reliability opportunities using organizational data, observations, audits, event trends, and frontline input.

  • Conducts gap analyses comparing current practice with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, organizational policy, evidence-based practice, and defined performance expectations.

  • Assists leaders in developing measurable corrective action plans with responsible persons, completion dates, monitoring methods, and defined measures of effectiveness.

  • Maintains ownership of assigned improvement work through completion, appropriate escalation, or clear transfer of accountability; communication of a concern alone does not constitute completion of follow-up.

  • Evaluates effectiveness and sustainability of improvement initiatives through audits, outcome monitoring, process measures, and validation of sustained compliance.

  • Serves as a quality improvement consultant by providing coaching, education, data interpretation, project-management support, and practical guidance to leaders and frontline teams.
