Athletic Trainer

Provide care from the sidelines, help keep students safe, and kickstart your career in athletics and health care at Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS). No more than 40 hours per week! 

The Athletic Trainer at RRHS recognizes, evaluates, treats, and rehabilitates injured student athletes under the supervision of the team physician, and in accordance with the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Licensing Act. The role reports to the Athletic Training Coordinator and works closely with the Athletic Director and coaches to create a strong partnership to support the health and well-being of student athletes. This posting is for a D1 university in the state of North Carolina.

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate and treat injured student athletes. Determine when a referral is necessary.
• Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of the team physician.
• Maintain documentation of treatment, rehabilitation, and referrals for each athlete. Ensure appropriate insurance documentation is on file.
• Act as a liaison between the physician and the athlete.
• Trainer identifies hazardous conditions or techniques and works with appropriate personnel or the student athlete to correct the issue.

Required Skills: 

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Requires hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to allow for suture or staple removal. Requires normal hearing and eyesight to allow for patient interaction and transfer of patient information from the patient to the pen chart. Need to have the ability to handle high amounts of stress.

Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Must be NATA BOC certified and possess or be in the process of acquiring licensure, certification, or registration for the state of NC.

Minimum Work Experience:

• Prefer 1-2 years experience. Will train new graduates.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training Required
