The Phlebotomist at RRHS collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the clinic. Maintains supply inventory in collection areas and phlebotomy trays. Assists with essential functions of the clinic, as needed. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Labels, processes, delivers and receives specimens in MIS for testing.
  • Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques, in a timely manner.
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies used in the performance of phlebotomy.
  • Participates in continuing and mandatory educational activities in a timely manner, meeting expected deadlines on own initiative.
  • Observe all safety procedures as they pertain to universal precautions.


Minimum Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications:
  • Completion of a certified phlebotomy training program.
  • No required license. ASPT or ASCP certification preferred
  • BLS (within 3 months of hire)
Required Skills:
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Computer: Meditech experienced preferred.
Minimum Work Experience:
  • 1 month phlebotomy experience preferred.
