Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory. Maintains supply inventory in collection areas and phlebotomy trays. Assists lab staff with non-testing essential functions.

Essential Functions: 

Labels, processes, delivers, and receives specimens in MIS for testing.
Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques, in a timely manner.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies used in the performance of phlebotomy.
Participates in continuing and mandatory educational activities in a timely manner, meeting expected deadlines on own initiative.
Observes all safety procedures as they pertain to universal precautions.

Minimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Required SkillsCertifications:Completion of a certified phlebotomy training program.No required license. ASPT or ASCP certification preferred
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Computer: Meditech experienced preferred.
Minimum Work Experience1 month phlebotomy experience preferred.
