How you'll contribute

The Senior Scheduling Coordinator plans, organizes and coordinates surgical services schedule in collaboration with surgical services staff.

Qualifications and requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Associates Degree preferred
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 2 years scheduling experience preferred

Essential functions:

  • Receives patient scheduling information from physician offices and electronically adjusts schedule, ensuring accuracy and appropriate time allotment for procedures.
  • Arranges schedules to ensure timely patient flow through perioperative period. Keeps schedule updated with add-on's and cancellations
  • Communicates with anesthesia regarding coverage and concerns.
  • Communicates any special needs for procedures, or concerns regarding patient care to manager/director or charge RN
  • Maintains calendar and updates with physician vacations and department changes.
  • Maintains department call schedule for contact center
  • Calls every patient prior to procedure to confirm appointment, provide directions and give patient arrival time
