How you'll contribute  

Assists physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate, and complete documentation practices. 

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
  • Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking, monitoring, and billing purposes. 
  • Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate. Performs audits for quality when requested. 

Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including by not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality. 

Senior HIM Tech - Additional Tasks

  1. Unbilled Report - Investigation and removal of accounts from report.
  2. Medhost Access/Deactivation - Employee access and termination.
  3. Training and Education - New employee training and education.
  4. Policies & Procedures - Policy and procedure accuracy verification, suggestion of new policies.
  5. Productivity - Monitoring and reporting.
  6. Notary - Perform notary duties as back-up. This would require obtaining certification that LAMC agreed to pay for.
  7. ED Facesheets - Provide ED facesheets to LAEMA
  8. Basic Guidance to Team - Serve as a primary source of contact for team members when support or guidance is needed.

FLSA: Non-exempt

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma/GED preferred. 

Skills: 

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.  
  • Must have basic computer literacy/skills, ability to scan, and strong organization skills.
