Position Summary:

Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.

Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, draping patients and anticipates needs of surgeon during intraoperative phase. Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory. Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures. Completes documentation within shift and meets current standards, policies and procedures. Maintains a positive working relationship both within the department and with other departments for the benefit of the patient.

 

Reports to: Senior Director-Surgery Services 


Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Work Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the Operating Room preferred.

Required Skills Certifications:

Current Operating Room Technician Certification.

Current American Heart Association BLS Certification or obtained within 90 days after hire date.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
