JOB SUMMARY
Manages the daily operations of the assigned department or function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.

Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

Processes applications of physicians and mid-levels per joint commission standards using primary source verification methodology. Including, sending out reappointment applications and processes in the appropriate time periods allowed in the Medical Staff Bylaws for currently licensed providers.

Maintains delineation of privileges for each specialty, facilitates revisions and approvals.

Assists with maintaining Credentials files of providers to include expirations of licensure, DEA, malpractice on a daily basis and updates in database and file in the Credentials Files and facilitates orientation of newly credentialed providers including mandatory requirements for education.

Assists with maintaining Caregiver Master in Paragon and entering all credentialed providers in the system.

For outside providers, maintains a doctor dictionary, verifies licensure, sanctions and enters appropriate functions according to requirements.

Develop departmental strategy in collaboration with leadership and other Medical Staff Services employees.

Serves as Chapter leader for the Medical Staff Chapter for Joint Commission/Accreditation, and serves as Facility Compliance Advisor for Corporate Compliance program and performs required quarterly audits.

Serves as support for Medical Staff board management, including taking minutes, maintaining bylaws, facilitating updates, and facilitating Credentials Committee monthly.

For Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE), maintains a schedule when FPPE is to be performed on newly credentialed providers and ensures completion of all documents/records and facilitates the review of these records by medical staff.

For Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE), sends out peer evaluations for low volume providers from credentialing system and assimilates approval sheet for OPPEs and assists with other data collection as needed to meet regulatory requirements related to the ongoing evaluation of the competency of practitioners.

May assist with completing requests from other hospitals, state licensing boards, and certifying boards for affiliation verification of credentialed providers.

Processes requests from providers for new technology and new/updated privileges. Assists with maintaining provider privileges on the shared drive and intranet so staff can access privileges.

Collects data, assists with analysis, communicates information and prepare reports as needed related to Medical Staff quality.

Assists with maintaining Medicare Attestation statements and coordinates obtaining certificates of insurance for new providers.

Performance review includes recognition of active participation in briefs, debriefs, huddles, learning boards, and executive patient safety rounds.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s degree required

Certifications: National Certification in Specialty preferred

Minimum Work Experience: Hospital or medical office is preferred. Experience with credentialing and Quality metrics, data collection is preferred.
