Role Summary:
Assist surgical technologists by preparing operating rooms and appropriately arranging surgical equipment and supplies. Provides direct patient care by assisting the surgeon in achieving desired surgical outcomes. Aids perioperative team by scrubbing and caring for the patient before, during, and after surgical intervention.

Essential Accountabilities:
1.  Prepares operating room for each surgical case by following department policies and guidelines.
2. Prevents contamination by taking appropriate measures by following department policies and guidelines.
3. Ensures optimal outcomes by creating and maintaining the sterile field for each surgical case.
4. Ensures safe patient care by following department policies and guidelines, and by functioning within prescribed scope of practice.
5. Supports departmental operations by completing other duties as assigned or requested.


Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Required Education:    Successful completion of two semesters in an accredited school of surgical technology required. This temporary position concludes at the date of graduation from the surgical technology program as scheduled on the day of hire.

Required License:    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Required Experience:    Successful completion of one semester of clinical experience in accredited surgical technologist program.
